Tidal's Annual Concert: Icons, Superstars, and Philanthropy All Under One Roof

On October 23 for one night and one night only, the upper echelons in the world of music and hip-hop come together for a cause; Tidal x Brooklyn, the annual philanthropic concert hosted by the streaming platform Tidal. The historic night in which Tidal supports and raises money for a philanthropic endeavor or movement for social change takes place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The last three concerts raised over ten million dollars for disaster relief and recovery, social injustice, and education causes. This year, all net ticket proceeds will go towards four non-profit organizations fighting to reform the criminal justice system; Cut50, Equal Justice Initiative, Innocence Project, and REFORM.

Major musical acts are coming in hot for the fourth year of the benefit concert. Lil Wayne, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Nick Jonas, Anderson Paak, Teyana Taylor (and many more) will grace the stage to help the nation rally for change in the criminal justice system. Superstars in the music world won’t be the only icons showing up in support of the cause. Senator Cory Booker is set to take the stage and popular radio show icon, Angie Martinez of Power 105.1, will MC and host the night.

Award winning director Ava DuVernay will be joined by CNN anchor Van Jones to honor and celebrate a trailblazer of the black power movement. Exactly fifty years ago, Tommie Smith raised his fist in protest against global racism –becoming one the of the most powerful and realist image in sporting history– while on the podium for winning gold in a track event at the 1968 Olympics.

Tickets start at twenty dollars and can be purchased through Tidal.com or Ticketmaster. Tidal is also encouraging both attendants and viewers streaming from home on their Tidal platform to send in donations which will go to the four non-profits of the night.
